  • Effect of Peer Counselling by Mother Support Groups on Infant and Young Child Feeding Practices: The Lalitpur Experience
Key Author: Dr.  Komal P. Kushwaha
Name of the Journal: PLOS One
Objective: Our primary objective was to evaluate the effect of peer counselling by mother support groups (MSG's) in improving the infant and young child feeding (IYCF) practices in the community.
Conclusion: The present study demonstrated a significant improvement in the IYCF practices evaluated when pregnant and lactating mothers were supported with skilled counselling. The fact that such an intervention could be implemented in a whole district with a population of over a million, using local resource persons indicates that it could be scaled up in other parts of the country also.
